WED 05 APR 2017   Show starts 19.30 - An evening with THOMAS LEEB (feat GUY BUTTERY)

Thomas Leeb picked up the guitar for the same reason as every thirteen-year-old boy: he wanted
to meet girls. He soon fell in love with the instrument, played his first solo concert at the age of fifteen and released his first acoustic guitar album at seventeen. Leeb is a frequent performer at concerts and festivals in Asia, the Americas and Europe and has been featured in numerous guitar magazines all over the world. Every year, he teaches workshops and master classes in universities and colleges and his album “Desert Pirate” was voted one of the essential albums of the last twenty years by Acoustic Guitar Magazine.

His peculiar guitar style owes as much to percussive techniques as traditional fingerstyle guitar. What sets Thomas Leeb apart from some of his contemporaries is his ability to make pyrotechnics serve the music. Three years studying West African traditional music give him a sense of timing and groove that is unusual in a guitarist. All this has earned him a loyal worldwide following and influential fans such as Eric Roche who was his guitar teacher, “for about five minutes and then I heard him play”, Jon Gomm awarded him “ten out of ten Gomms” and Guthrie Govan who thinks that “what Thomas does on an acoustic guitar probably shouldn’t be legal.”

“Jolly good. Lovely playing, lovely sound”. – David Gilmour (Pink Floyd)

“Thomas is probably my favourite percussive guitar player.” – Newton Faulkner

MON 10 APR 2017   Show starts 19.30 - An evening with PARABLE 15
Jason Andrew, Marc Skarda, Bryce Skarda & Mali Sewell

Parable Fifteen is best described as ‘New Country’ or ‘Modern rock’, the genre of ‘Pop’ is far too widely used, even abused, but we’ll add it in there somewhere!

Parable’s are essentially ‘stories with principles’ and that is exactly what Parable Fifteen’s songs are all about... life experiences, with hidden lessons embedded deep within.

After living in Nashville, TN in America for a number of years, working within the heart of the music industry, Marc (Skarda) returned to his roots in South Africa and began writing music with his brother, Bryce (Breeds) .... who in the meantime had performed in a number of bands & impacted the local market as a Sound & Lighting Engineer, in & around Kwazulu Natal.

With over 20 years of collective experience performing & engaging with the music industry, they decided to sit down & write songs ... together .... just for the fun of it! What transpired was the start of a moving collection, written from deep within, touching the struggles of mankind & flirting with the aspirations that one dreams of.

After playing at a few Open Mic’s & Local Music Clubs, interest grew and the feedback was overwhelmingly encouraging, inspiring the brothers to adventure into other formats on stage.

Post the release of their first song to radio, the start of 2015 saw “Rain on the Ocean” attain a place in the Top Ten, on select National charts. The band quickly climbed the ReverbNation ‘Pop’ charts in South Africa, hitting No 1 in just 2 weeks. The rest of year, saw Parable Fifteen playing more than 35 shows, working hard at entertaining & delighting their rapidly expanding fan base. By the end of 2015, they had released their first full length album, entitled ‘stories’, which showcases the musical talents of the Parable Pair. Post the album launch, ‘Trust Me’ was play listed immediately, with a high rotation status, on select radio stations and over 3000 you tube views.

The band launched into 2016, with a strategic approach to break into the YouTube world. Releasing a YouTube Video every fortnight to their ‘Acoustic Sessions Playlist’, has not only attracted the international scouts, but has achieved merits within itself. Their release of an original, ‘As I Thought’ on the 24th of February, attracted over 2000 views within the first 24 hours of been published.

2017 saw the addition of Drummer :”Mali Sewell” and Bass Player “Jason Andrew”, Both seasoned musicians,  who add a dynamic rounded Rock element to the band. The new 4 piece band are currently finishing off their sophomore Full length cd and are set to tour and Promote their new Album as of May 2017
