IN CONCERT

For a classical piano recital at this year's festival,  and in Music Revivals 20th year, Steinway pianist, Christopher Duigan,  plays an exhilarating programme of his favourite classical piano masterpieces. These uplifting and boldly positive compositions have formed a major part of his repertoire in numerous performances over the past 20 years under the banner of Music Revival .   Music Revival, established in October 1997, has grown from a series of small intimate concerts to an illustrious  and highly regarded series of more than 100 concerts annually presented across SA,   from home soirees to major festivals and symphony concerts.

Principal works in Duigan’s performance include George Frederic Handel's Chaconne in G HWV 435 and Ludwig van Beethoven’s exhilarating   “Waldstein" Sonata op 53. The 'Waldstein' is one of Beethoven's most iconic and reverred compositions. The second part of the programme features music by Claude Debussy  "Reflets dans l'eau" (Reflections in the water) and the "Heroic" Polonaise in A-flat Op 53 by Frederic Chopin. The last work said to be one of the composer’s boldest compositions giving voice to a nation’s cry for freedom following the Russian invasion of Poland of 1831.
