Acclaimed “Simon & Garfunkel Songbook”
at the Sneddon in March

Fall in love with the music of  Simon & Garfunkel all over again in this dynamic and uplifting musical journey through more than twenty of their classic hits. The familiar and chart-topping songs of the hit duo, Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel will be performed live at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from 19 to 29 March 2020 by eight highly talented local singers in “Here’s to You” The Simon & Garfunkel Songbook national tour including Johannesburg Cape Town and for the first time Sasolburg.  Tickets are on sale now at Computicket.

Take a trip down memory lane with the solo hits of Paul Simon and Simon & Garfunkel including Bridge Over Troubled Water, Cecilia, The Sound of Silence, Scarborough Fair, You can call me Al, Mrs Robinson and the mega hit, Graceland. The show features fresh, yet faithful re-interpretations of Simon & Garfunkel`s evergreen songs, blending nostalgia and imagination, so that young can discover the magic of their music for the very first time and not-so-young will enjoy memories of the Simon & Garfunkel era.

HERE’S TO YOU was originally produced last year, making its debut at Pieter Toerien’s Montecasino Theatre where the show enjoyed a sold-out season and rave reviews. The show then successfully toured Cape Town. “The response to the show was phenomenal, creating a high demand for tickets in both Johannesburg and Cape Town which resulted in return seasons this year,” says Jaco van Rensburg of VR Theatrical, the show’s Producer. “I am delighted that we are performing in Durban where I am sure audiences will be not only be entertained but perhaps something in this songbook resonates closely with a time in their life - be it long ago, or just today.”

“I loved Here’s to You’s easy elegance and theatricality, it’s freshness involving a very talented cast of eight, all of whom sing beautifully and also handle various musical instruments, allowing the music, the Simon and Garfunkel poetry, to speak for itself,” says Durban arts and entertainment reviewer Billy Suter from SoSuter.  Journalist and arts critic for almost fifty years, Peter Feldman wrote on Artslink.co.za; “It's a low-key show, never over the top, with sensitive lighting patterns and a rare enthusiasm that bubbles from the performers and engulfs the audience. A commentary on the life of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel is left to a minimum because it's the music that really does all the talking.”

HERE’S TO YOU is performed by a stellar all South African cast of eight talented singers who also play musical instruments live in the show.  Under the Musical Directorship of Wessel Odendaal (Saturday Night Fever, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) the cast is led by The Voice SA 2017 runner-up, Josh Ansley (Rock of Ages) on guitar with Ashleigh Butcher (Peppa Pig Live, Great Balls of Fire) playing guitar, ukulele and bass guitar; assistant Musical Director, Daniel Geddes (Avenue Q, Charlotte’s Web) on keyboards and guitar; South Korean-born music teacher Hanna So on piano, violin and cello;  Justin Swartz (Oliver Twist, West Side Story) on cajon and percussion; Sanli Jooste (Sweeney Todd, The Sound of Music) on cello and Kwa Mashu-born Durbanite and top four finalist in Idols 2017, Phindile Dube (Dolphins by Starlight, Journey to Eternity) on percussion.

The highly talented creative team behind the show comprises of director, Timothy Le Roux; musical arrangements by Bryan Schimmel, Wessel Odendaal, Daniel Keith Geddes, Matthew Vlok and Jaco van Rensburg; scenic design by Nadine Minnaar; sound design by Fried Wilsenach and lighting design by Oliver Hauser.

Simon and Garfunkel’s great catalogue provides a carousel of memories shared at “the Sneddon” for a limited season in Durban. The sensational cast of multi-talented performers bring this timeless music to life in a theatrical setting.  It’s a fresh take on Simon & Garfunkel`s classic songs that speak to all ages. Book now at Computicket..  Special discounted offers available including an Early Bird 20% discount valid until 10 February as well as discounted ticket prices for children, students, pensioners and group bookings of 10 plus tickets.
