Petty made his fortune as a highly successful musician, songwriter and performer, both as a solo artist and with his band, ‘Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ which was formed in 1976. He released his first solo album in 1989 and the first single released from the album was his signature hit ‘Free Fallin’.
